This 55,000 sq. ft. vehicle storage/maintenance facility for the Van Buren County Road Commission is located in Lawrence, MI. It features Ridge Frame and Continuous Beam framing by VP Buildings.
The SSR standing seam roofing system, also by VP Buildings in a Leaf Green color, is unusual because it has a liner installed over the purlins with a vapor retarder and rigid insulation to provide a consistent thermal barrier. Customized overhangs and roof extensions were also designed into the project, as well as clerestory windows with mechanical louvers. The clerestory windows not only add to the aesthetics of the building, but they also allow natural lighting into the building.
The front canopy into the office was enhanced with a cantilevered frame design. Another special feature of the project is an underhung crane that is used for vehicle maintenance. The exterior metal walls are Almond-colored 7.2 panels by MBCI.
The VP Buildings authorized builder was A.J. Veneklasen Inc., Grand Rapids, MI. The designer was FTC&H, Grand Rapids, MI. The project was completed in April 2007.
