The interior design for a new Steak ‘n Shake restaurant in Oklahoma City, OK relies heavily on prominent radiuses and dramatically curved interior elements. With nearly 500 restaurants in 22 states, the chain enjoys a particularly strong presence throughout the Midwest.

Approximately 110 linear feet of 3 5/8”, 20 gauge Flex-C Trac from Flex-Ability Concepts was used to create the desired look. Flex-C Trac provides an easy way for builders to frame high quality curves by utilizing a simple, flexible metal track for use with wood or metal studs.

Franchisee and general contractor Philip McIntosh commented, “The curved floating bulkhead is part of the Steak ‘n Shake prototype design. The curves were easy to install using the Flex-C Trac and the job turned out great.” McIntosh also operates a second Steak ‘n Shake location in Oklahoma City.

Installation of the Flex-C Trac was done by Finnigan Construction, Inc., El Reno, OK.

The Steak ‘n Shake application was particularly suited to the use of Flex-C Trac according to Frank Wheeler, partner at Flex-Ability Concepts and the inventor of the product. “Many jobs of this size and type are conceived, orchestrated and performed on a very tight schedule,” Wheeler noted. “The Flex-C Trac family of products makes it very easy to grab a product off the shelf, shape it to the curve by hand, secure the shape, install it, cover it and you’re open for business. If needed, the design can even be modified on site to suit as built conditions or the whim of your designer. On a project like this, it’s nice to know you are working with a product that allows you to frame around any potential site issues.”
