The design for a stunning retreat house on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls, TX was inspired by the site’s previous life as a fish camp as well as the expansive views, wind patterns and the generous tree canopy. The 3,000 square foot vacation home is situated at the heart of a small peninsula that projects into the lake. Durability and low maintenance were important requirements for materials chosen for the home’s construction, including the 3,100 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK® Graphite Gray Corrugated Sinusoidal Panels. They were utilized along with board-formed concrete, exposed steel structural members and ipe siding.

Dick Clark Architecture of Austin, TX designed the home. According to Tray Toungate, who was the project architect for Dick Clark Architecture but is now a principal at Designtrait, “The owners wanted a slight industrial feel combined with a rural or country flavor. A corrugated metal product met that objective. We considered galvanized steel but the client opted for RHEINZINK because of the long-term benefits of zinc. We also wanted a palette of materials that were natural in color in order to complement one another as well as the beautiful surroundings.”

The RHEINZINK panels were installed by Altico Construction, Horseshoe Bay, TX. The RHEINZINK distributor/fabricator was MetalTech—USA, Peachtree City, GA.
