Stage AE, located on Pittsburgh, PA’s burgeoning North Shore, is an innovative indoor and outdoor concert venue that hosts more than 100 events annually. This 35,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose entertainment complex features an indoor concert hall with room for 2,400 spectators, an outdoor amphitheater that can accommodate 5,550 and a small rock club that holds 350 to 400 guests. Metal wall panels from CENTRIA played a key role in the facility’s design.

The flexible use of the space is in keeping with the music industry trend of audiences splitting off into niche communities of concert goers. PromoWest, the venue owner, had success in introducing similar venues in nearby markets. Partnering with a consortium of businesses led by the Pittsburgh Steelers they decided to develop a similar site in the Pittsburgh market.

The architects wanted to create an industrial, modern architectural feel that would appeal to a wide range of demographics, while providing the acoustics and technical amenities that would attract a wide range of musical talent. CENTRIA’s Profile Series was selected to achieve this contemporary aesthetic, which also complements the other new and classic architecture on the North Shore.

With the option to install the Profile Series panels vertically or horizontally, these versatile panels provided the design team with virtually unlimited choice in terms of form, color and texture. The design team also selected CENTRIA’s Profile Series IW-60A concealed fastener panels because they provide a smooth, unbroken appearance, which adds to the sleek style of the exterior design. CENTRIA’s CS-260 panels provided yet another cost effective way to achieve a sleek appearance with dynamic asymmetrical effects. The fact that the panels can be installed quickly and easily helps keep projects on time and on budget. In addition, the panels can be insulated to meet many levels of thermal protection - an important feature in Pittsburgh’s variable climate.

The architect was WD Partners of Dublin, OH; the CENTRIA products dealer was Essig-McClure of Pittsburgh, PA; the metal products installer was Cuddy Roofing Company, Inc. of Pittsburgh, PA; and the contractor was Continental Building Systems of Homestead, PA.
