Let’s hear it for fair trade practices. Backed by rigorous investigations, the U.S. The Department of Commerce has determined some bad actors and initiated a process to financially counter those found to be at fault. At the forefront of preliminary fines are China, Mexico, Turkey, and Indonesia. At the time of reading this, US Customs and Border Protection will be collecting these preliminary duties against those countries in question. This current action itself is only one step which is focused on countervailing, or offsetting, subsidies provided to the countries by their domestic governments, but it stated more fines are soon approaching.

(The aforementioned fines) “... do not yet include the rates from the ongoing anti-dumping duty investigations of aluminum extrusions from China, Indonesia, Mexico, and Turkey, which will be added to the preliminary subsidy rates. The Commerce Department's preliminary determinations in the anti-dumping duty cases on these four countries, as well as 10 other countries, are currently scheduled for early May 2024.” (PR Newswire, 2024)

Coatings, sizes and more are all options for you to tweak a design that perhaps experience has told you would work better. One product we see a demand for is termination bars. Termination bars are the anchoring strips of aluminum extrusions used for flat roofing to create watertight seals up vertical wall surfaces such as parapet walls. Flat or angled for a thicker bead of sealant, these pieces are indispensable and have no fair substitute. This is an example of a product of which there are thousands of in every business with an aluminum extruded component. Look around and you might see a fundamental element for your business to function.

East Lake Metals has primarily cultivated its business within the building products industry, catering to the roofing, wall panel, and trim sectors. Various building products necessitate the use of extrusions, such as ACM wall panels, edge metal (fastened to extrusions), and termination bars. East Lake Metals has successfully positioned itself as a trusted provider of these essential components. As you plan your upcoming ventures, consider the critical role these components play in the continuity of your business’ abilities to stay an operational engine.
