Airglades Airport Hangar

After discovering the old door's inferior hinges were the culprit, his next call was to Schweiss Doors.

Airport Square 13

In today’s hyper-competitive commercial real estate market, there's no shortage of properties for prospective tenants to choose from. The owners of Airport Square 13 in Linthicum Heights, MD, were well aware of this when they decided to move forward with the renovation of their 30-year-old building. To help transform the four-story structure into a viable lease option with strong curb appeal, the architect they hired covered the exterior with Dri-Design rainscreen metal wall panels.

Aisin Transmission Plant

The heat in Texas is no joke, and temperatures are trending higher. That's part of the reason why insulated metal panels from Kingspan Insulated Panels were chosen for Aisin's new transmission plant in Cibolo. The half-million-square-foot facility utilizes two styles of panels that offer both aesthetics and energy efficiency.

Akron Art Museum

With all due respect, Akron, Ohio is about the last place you’d expect to find a provocative piece of modern architecture. Yet the Akron Art Museum’s John S. and James L. Knight addition is just that. The 63,000 sq. ft. addition was designed by COOP HIMMELB(L)AU of Austria and represents the celebrated firm’s first public project in the United States. The addition represented a first for the museum too. After having operated out of existing buildings since its inception in 1922, the addition is the museum’s first purpose-built space. One of the addition's eye-catching features is its 327'-long cantilevered canopy. Framed with steel, it is covered with an egg crate aluminum screening produced by Ohio Gratings Inc.

Akron City Hospital Emergency Department Renovation

The renovation and expansion of the Akron City Hospital Emergency Department adds 85,000 sq. ft. of space with 44 beds and 10 triage rooms. Akron City Hospital, a member of Summa Health System, is a Level 1 Trauma Center. Approximately 15,000 linear feet of 3 5/8”, 20 gauge Flex-C Trac and 1,200 linear feet of 20 gauge Flex-C Angle were used to frame prominent radiuses and soffits for the Akron, OH project.

Alaska Airlines Hangar

Building in Alaska always presents unique challenges, not the least of which is the short construction season. That weighed heavily in an architect's decision to specify insulated metal panels from Kingspan for a massive hangar commissioned by Alaska Airlines to house its largest aircraft.

Alberta E-House

Equal Door Industries of Calgary, Alberta, Canada bills itself as Canada's Premier Garage Door Company. Some would say Schweiss Doors enjoys that same kind of reputation in the United States, as it pertains to Bifold and Hydraulic doors. So with the involvement of both companies in the manufacture and installation of four exceptionally tall doors for a Calgary-based modular building manufacturer, smooth sailing was practically guaranteed.

Alberta Plywood

Officials at Alberta Plywood wanted to replace a 16,000 sq. ft. wood-framed building housing the company’s critically important lay-up line, where plywood is assembled, pressed and cut to size. The problem was how to build a new building on the same spot without adversely affecting the daily production cycle. The solution was found with a pre-engineered metal building system from Robertson Building Systems.

Alberta School Of Performing Arts

A few years after an EF4 tornado ripped apart the Alberta Elementary School in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the reimagined and redesigned Alberta School of Performing Arts has reopened on the site to the delight of students and the community. Metal wall panels from Petersen are key components of the new facility.

Albion College Science Complex

As Michigan’s first large-scale Silver LEED-Certified science building, the Albion College Science Complex boasts an energy-efficient, stucco-embossed exterior provided by Kingspan Insulated Panels. The project is a blend of renovation and new construction and benefits from a variety of green building components. The $41.6 million Albion College Science Complex renovation was completed in 2006 and received Silver LEED Certification from the USGBC in 2007. The project’s design specifically called for green building practices in order to meet the requirements for LEED Certification and Project Kaleidoscope.

Alexan Cityview Apartment Complex Clubhouse

Alexan Cityview in Bayonne, NJ is a 544-unit apartment complex recently built on the site of an old federal shipbuilding and repair yard. In addition to being conveniently located and offering spectacular views of lower Manhattan, the property has a great clubhouse, complete with indoor and outdoor pools, game room and fitness center. Topping the 10,000 sq. ft., one-story building is an Englert metal roof system.

Alexander II Magnet School

Multiple problems, including an aging structure and a failing asphalt roof, led Bibb County (GA) Schools to recover the roof of the historic Alexander II Magnet School with the 138T symmetrical standing seam metal roof from McElroy Metal.

The Alice and Carl Kirkland Cancer Center in Jackson, TN is an 82,000-square-foot medical facility that was designed to help heal. It’s 3D exterior came to life with Tapered Series Dri-Design Wall Panels that create a high-tech curb appeal, inviting patients and their families into a spa-like environment.

All Inside Storage

Business is booming for a California developer of storage units for campers, boats, cars and planes. Units from 10' to 100' wide and up to 85' deep features amenities that customers seem to like...including the doors that secure them. All but a few of the more than 130 doors installed so far were manufactured by Schweiss Doors, one of the world's leading producers of bifold and hydraulic doors.

Allegheny Construction Group Headquarters

Allegheny Construction Group, Inc. has repeatedly ranked among the “Pittsburgh Top 100”, an annual recognition for the fastest growing construction or real estate firms serving that Pennsylvania metropolitan area. The Butler Buildership steadily outgrew its former location until Laura Deklewa, President, committed to building a new 9200-sq.-ft. headquarters office and mezzanine levels, and the 10,300 sq. ft. of support facilities in the Pittsburgh suburb of Bridgeville. The Butler building makes a graphic statement about the metal building projects that comprise a significant share of the general contractor’s projects every year.

Allegheny Health Network Sports Complex At Cool Springs

The Cool Springs Golf Center in Pittsburgh was devastated by a fire that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Penn Cove Group Capital stepped in to rebuild the driving range and golf cages initially and did a massive renovation and upgrade. They were about to call it a day, when their imagination took flight - resulting in the Allegheny Health Network Sports Complex At Cool Springs, featuring products from Ceco Building Systems.

Allen County Judicial Center

When it comes to county courthouses, they don't build them like they used to...or do they? The new Allen County Judicial Center in Scottsville, KY has the style and stature of the courthouses of a by-gone era. Topping the stately structure is zinc roofing from IMETCO.

Alley 24

Located in the South Lake Union section of Seattle, Washington, Alley 24 owes its name to the fact it sits on a city block subdivided into four quarters by intersecting midblock alleys. Perhaps a name suggesting sustainability would have been more appropriate though, as the project is among the city’s most environmentally friendly and represents one of the U.S.’s first LEED-certified mixed-use projects. Among the energy-efficient products used on the project were UNA-CLAD™ Custom Sunscreens from Firestone Metal Products of Anoka, MN.

Alliance Safety Council Headquarters

The Alliance Safety Council in Baton Rouge, LA is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving safety in the workplace. Although initially providing services only in Louisiana, members have taken the organization to a broader market through nationwide safety programs. A new 32,000 sq. ft. headquarters helps the organization meet its goals both locally and beyond. Featured on the building’s exterior are metal composite material wall panels from Citadel Architectural Products.
