Green Acre Farms Kiln Building

Hop Drying Facility Constructed With Materials From Star Building Systems

A new 24,510 sq. ft. kiln building was constructed for Green Acre Farms to be used as a hop drying facility for the Wapato, Washington operation. Measuring 114’ wide x 215’ long x 28’ high, the kiln building features products from Star Building Systems.

Star designed the building with no interior columns, allowing space for interior concrete tilt-up partition panels which were installed to form hop drying rooms. The building was also designed to support overhead conveyors, traveling equipment and mezzanine walk-ways. The mezzanines are located around the entire interior perimeter of the building and tie to the 12” high concrete tilt-up box structures at the middle of the facility.

PBR profile metal wall panels in Light Stone were installed above exposed 4’ high aggregate concrete on the exterior of the building. Double-Lok 24 gauge roof panels in Polar White were used on the roof of the main building as well as on the 16’ wide x 4’ tall cupola that runs the length of the building's ridge. The cupola sidewalls were designed to accommodate wire mesh screens to vent humid air out of the building, and 12 ridge vents were installed on top of the cupola.

It was noted that all components of this building are either hot-dipped galvanized or were formed from galvanized coil stock.

The Star builder, general contractor and erector for this project was Concord Construction Inc. of Wapato, WA.
