New Auto Dealership Created With Metal Systems From American Buildings Company

Scholfield Buick GMC in Wichita, Kansas is sporting a new state-of-the-art facility thanks to Conco Construction, an American Buildings Company Authorized Builder. The project was one of the most complicated in Conco’s history with eight separate engineered buildings, more than 25 exterior building corners and multiple roof elevations. The excellent coordination and communication by the building and design team led to the project being completed under budget and two months ahead of schedule.

The 51,883-square-foot building was designed to meet the needs of the growing Scholfield Buick GMC dealership and houses a diverse collection of services ranging from car sales, service, parts, office functions and customer service. The new dealership was no ordinary metal building and required extensive pre-planning and on-the-job coordination.

The design includes an exterior covered in composite metal panels. The interior houses a 10,000-square-foot warehouse, service area, service drive, two-story showroom and two floors of retail space, waiting area and offices. The roof panels are Galvalume® Standing Seam roof panels and a Simple-Saver roof installation system helped achieve a high r-value in the roof, which is the insulation's ability to resist heat traveling through it. The metal material was essential in maintaining cost effectiveness for both labor and material used on the project.

Conco Construction was awarded first place in the 2014 ABC Excellence in Design Awards in the Auto Dealerships category. The ABC Excellence in Design Awards program recognizes Builders and Roofers for their innovation in design and metal systems construction.
