Boston, MA - The Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association (MBCEA) held its 45th Annual Conference at the Hyatt Cambridge in Boston, MA on May 1-3, 2014. The highlight of the conference was the presentation of the group’s annual Building of the Year Awards.

This year’s judges were Ronald Albert, AIA of RHA Architects and Jim Lichty, AIA of Archetype Design Group, Inc. MBCEA Past President Tim Seyler, of S&S Structures, announced the 2014 winners as current MBCEA President Gary T. Smith, of Thomas Phoenix International, bestowed the following awards:

It was noted that while all the winners were impressive, the judges ultimately chose The Field House as Building of the Year. This 46,800 sq. ft. building used steel framing from Star Building Systems, combined with structural steel. Eave heights ranged from 30' to 38.4'. The structure is covered by a standing seam roof, and included an R-30 Simple Saver insulation system and 2" Insulated wall panels.
