Indianapolis, IN - The Salt Lake City insulation board manufacturing facility of Firestone Building Products Company, LLC (Firestone) recently celebrated a safety milestone, having worked one million man-hours without a lost-time accident.

“At Firestone, safety is more than a goal; it’s an integral part of our commitment to making our company a Premier Place to Work for our teammates,” said Jason Lakatos, Salt Lake City Plant Manager. “Our teammates reached this achievement by working together to ensure the highest level of safety for one another in the workplace. They should all be proud of what they have accomplished.”

Firestone has an established safety program that includes training, evaluation of basic systems, internal audits and continuous improvement. Daily, monthly and quarterly meetings focus on workplace safety and process safety management. Teammates are fully engaged in the safety process, and there is active, visible involvement of all levels of management.

The Salt Lake City plant, which produces flat and tapered insulation for high performance roofing systems, has been recognized in the past with the prestigious Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status for outstanding performance in the area of worker health and safety.
