All Weather Insulated Panels Greener Than Ever With Honeywell's Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent

AWIP-solsticeVacaville, CA – All Weather Insulated Panels of Vacaville, a North American leader in the manufacture of composite insulated metal panels (IMPs,) is proud to announce it will be the first company of its kind on the continent to employ Honeywell’s innovative Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA).

By adopting Solstice LBA, AWIP intends to help customers reduce their environmental footprint and comply with the most stringent environmental and energy efficiency regulations. Honeywell customers worldwide who have integrated Solstice® low-global-warming-potential materials in other products have realized the reduction of nearly 30 million metric tons of greenhouse gases to-date, equal to eliminating emissions from more than 6.2 million cars, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

AWIP panels strives to prove the industry's most efficient solutions for wall, roof and interior wall claddings in commercial, industrial and cold storage building applications. For facilities that require temperature-controlled environments – such as cold storage warehouses, wineries, freezers and food processing facilities – AWIP panels provide superior energy ratings for long-term savings while also meeting the latest structural and fire safety standards.

"Honeywell is an innovative leader in foam insulation, and we are honored to be considered the best company to bring Solstice LBA to the North American insulated panel market,” said AWIP President William Lowery, who oversees AWIP’s two continuous-line manufacturing facilities, located in Vacaville and Little Rock, Arkansas, respectively.

“Solstice LBA makes our panels more efficient and will advance our insulated metal panel technology to further meet the growing energy, environmental and economic challenges facing the North American building industry,” Lowery continued. “For our customers that means long-term energy savings, and that helps the planet.”

Solstice LBA is based on hydrofluoro-olefin (HFO) technology, a critical ingredient in closed-cell foam that allows it to expand and provide excellent insulating properties. Solstice® LBA increases the thermal performance of polyurethane (PUR) and polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam used for insulated metal panel products.

“We are very pleased that AWIP, an innovation leader in North America, has chosen Solstice LBA for its production of commercial panels,” said Patrick Clifford, global business manager for Honeywell’s foam blowing agents business. “Demand for Solstice LBA continues to accelerate as more and more insulation producers are seeing the advantages of our new fourth-generation blowing agent.”

Solstice LBA has an ultra-low global-warming-potential (GWP) of 1, which is 99.9 percent lower than hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and equal to carbon dioxide. It is nonflammable (ASTM E-681) and is not a volatile organic compound per U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is listed under the U.S. EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program and is also registered under the European Union’s REACH program. Founded in 2004, AWIP seeks to provide solutions to projects that require the perfect combination of energy efficiency, creative versatility and ease of construction. AWIP panels feature Solstice LBA in closed cell polyisocyanurate insulation and self-aligning, double interlocking tongue-and-groove joints with concealed fasteners that create an air-and-water-tight seal to stabilize interior environments.

The demand by government and state building codes for improved energy efficiency makes All Weather Insulated Panels an ideal choice to deliver the superior thermal capabilities and building performance that eco-conscious builders, designers and owners need.
