Construction Jobs Added In Most States During August, Report Shows

Arlington, VA - Thirty-four states and the District of Columbia added construction jobs between August 2016 and August 2017, while 30 states added construction jobs between July and August 2017 amid strong demand for construction work in most parts of the country, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of recent Labor Department data.

AIA Billings Index Up For Sixth Consecutive Month

Washington, D.C. – For the sixth consecutive month, architecture firms reported increasing demand for design services as reflected in the July Architecture Billings Index (ABI). As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine to twelve month lead time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the July ABI score was 51.9, down from a score of 54.2 in the previous month.
