The Cooper Family Medical Building in Bradenton, Florida is an 11,000 square-foot single story facility designed to reflect a tropical West Indies style resort, using varied exterior wall materials, highly detailed exterior trim, trellises, open trusses, wood columns and last but certainly not least, standing seam metal roofing from Englert Inc. of Perth Amboy, NJ.

The new facility includes eight physician offices, thirty-two examination rooms, two ultrasound rooms, a treatment room, laboratories, several triage and nurse stations, staff break room, conference room and administrative offices.

An attractive waiting room with soaring two-story ceilings was designed to flood the interior with natural light, giving patients and visitors a sense of tropical warmth and inviting welcome. The design also includes numerous clerestory windows and skylights throughout the building to emphasize the benefits of the use of natural light.

The structure’s 21,000 square foot metal roof was created with Englert Series 2000 profile standing seam metal panels, formed from 24-gauge Metallic Copper-finished steel. The 16-wide panels were chosen for their durability, including Florida Building Code wind-uplift requirement, Miami Dade uplift testing, FM uplift testing, UL Uplift Standard 580 and ASTM 1592 uplift standards. Kurt Stapleton of Sutter Roofing, the project’s Sarasota, FL-based roofing contractor, said the biggest installation challenge was getting the ridges to line up on the different elevations.

The project’s general contractor was Manasota Commercial Construction Company of Bradenton.
