Formability and a precision fit were at the top of the list as far as requirements for a material to cover the radiused drop-off canopy at the St. Mary’s Medical Office Building in Richmond, VA. That’s why Odell & Associates specified ALPOLIC® ACM (aluminum composite material) for the job.

Mitsubishi Chemical FP America Inc. of Chesapeake, VA, manufactured the 4mm-thick material, which features .020” aluminum skins bonded to a polyethylene core. It was supplied in two colors, BPS Pearl and Silver Metallic, both of which were formulated from Lumiflon paint by PPG Industries.

W.H. Stovall & Company Inc. of Ashland, VA, fabricated and installed the panels using its proprietary Stovall R-175 gasket system. Approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of panels were needed to complete the challenging project.
