Barksdale Air Force Base Dormitories

Series 200 standing seam metal roofing from Architectural Building Components tops four new dormitory buildings at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Jedco Construction of Raleigh, NC, and Grosjean Constructors handled the installation of the Colonial Red roofs, which feature 16"-wide panels formed from 24-gauge steel.

The 200 Series is ABC's most versatile roof panel. It features a 2”-tall rib that is mechanically seamed in the field with an electric seamer in either a single lock (90 degree) or double Lock (180 degree) fold. It performs well on open purlins as well as on solid deck on slopes as low as 1/2:12. Panels can be produced in the plant or on site in lengths up to 200' using one of the company's ARCHZILLA portable fabrication trucks. The 200 Series can be curved to a radius as tight as 20’. It has outstanding performance in high wind conditions.

For outstanding design, construction and craftsmanship, the project received an ABC Job of the Month award for May 2006.
