Located in Colorado Springs, CO, the 310th Space Wing Headquarters houses the 310th Space Wing Staff, Security Forces Squadron and personnel from the 310th Military Personnel Flight and Mission Support Squadron. In addition to requiring roof and wall products that would stand the test of time, the building had to provide a clean, well-maintained environment as mandated by Schriever Air Force Base’s Green Energy Efficiency policy. With the help of roof and wall products from Firestone Building Products, those edicts were met.

“The installing contractor, Central States Roofing Company, Inc., teamed up with Firestone Building Products on this project, because they saw the benefits of working with one manufacturer that would provide a full line of products and help coordinate the transitions from one product to the next,” said Cliff Davis, a Sales Representative for Firestone Building Products' firm Clark Rheem and Associates Inc. Central States Roofing is located in Colorado Springs. The offices of Clark Rheem and Associates are in  Englewood, CO.

To create the clean look the U.S. Air Force requested, the project’s designer utilized Firestone Building Products' Series 1200 Wall Panel System, fabricated from 4mm Alucobond® aluminum composite material. The system was used on approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of building wall area. Complementing the metal walls are UNA-CLAD™ champagne metallic UC-6 Roofing Panels, formed from 22-gauge prefinished steel. They cover 462 sq. ft. of roof surface.

“The thing that sets this job apart is the wall panels. The assembly was unusual and meticulous due to air tightness requirements,” said Justin Duggan, project manager and estimator, Central States. “We really like the Series 1200 Wall Panel System. It’s worker-friendly.

“If it was up to me, I would use Firestone on everything. Our local reps take care of us and their warranty process is the most reasonable,” Duggan added. “We use more Firestone products than anything else.”

Also utilized on the project was Firestone Building Products' SBS UltraWhite™ modified bitumen capsheet. It was used to provide heat reflectivity, saving energy costs and meeting the facility’s Green Energy Efficiency policy.

The Series 1200 Wall Panel System features a 10-year Firestone Quality Assurance Warranty. Additionally, the UC-6 Roofing Panels and SBS UltraWhite Roofing System are protected under a 20-year Red Shield™ Warranty. The project was completed in October 2011.
