Villa Rica, a city about 30 miles outside of Atlanta, Georgia, is known for its raised sidewalks, crepe myrtles and historic downtown. In January 2022, the quaint city gained a stunning modern addition – Carros Metal Concepts' (CMC) new headquarters. This attractive building features an array of metal construction products, including a number manufactured by Kingspan Insulated Panels North America.

The design/engineer/build contractor designed the new building as a safe, healthy and happy workplace environment for its employees. The 30,000-square-foot building includes a warehouse area for machinery and fabrication, storage for materials, a full kitchen, and a two-story gym in addition to office space.

In addition to employee well-being, CMC’s new headquarters were designed with its clients in mind, serving as a living showroom for its customers.

CMC specializes in architectural cladding, from insulated metal panels to ACM, plate panels, metal roofing and more. When choosing a material for the new building, Casey Grover, business development manager at CMC, had a unique opportunity to use the very products that CMC fabricates, installs, and trusts for their own projects. CMC utilized the state-of-the-art cladding systems that the company provides to clients across the United States.

“We wanted to have a ‘live’ mock-up to share with clients, architects, owners and others,” said Grover. “Visitors no longer have to ask what we do, they can see it on our own building.”

A longtime partner of Kingspan Insulated Metal Panels North America, CMC used over 5,000 square-feet of Kingspan’s insulated metal panels (IMPs) for the project. The building includes 1,700 square-feet of KarrierPanel on the front of the building and 3,400 square-feet of Kingspan’s KS Series IMPs on the back of the building. CMC chose a weathered zinc color for the KS Series IMPs, designed to complement the company’s blue and grey color scheme.

Kingspan’s KarrierPanel is a factory-engineered substructure designed to support rainscreen facades. The system provides a weathertight building envelope in a fraction of the time of other systems.

Speed of build was one of the main benefits of using IMPs. CMC was able to get dried-in in nearly a week, which allowed them to begin the interior work. From breaking ground to move-in, the project took only seven months and three weeks.

“Due to the overall speed of installation, the interior work was able to begin almost immediately, while we were still fabricating the plate panels that went on the exterior of the building,” continued Grover.

The company’s new building is getting rave reviews from customers. Grover says the company has been approached by dozens of architects since the opening of the new building.

“When you can come walk around, touch it, see how it engages, talk about the high R-values, the wide array of colors, the longevity, the quick install, it is catching the attention of many architects and building owners,” said Grover.
