Located on the University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville, the John Paul Jones Multipurpose Arena features approximately 45,000 sq. ft. of Silver Metallic and Dark Gray aluminum composite panels on its exterior. They were formed from ALPOLIC® ACM (aluminum composite material) and feature Megaflon paint finishes from PPG Industries.
The ALPOLIC® ACM (aluminum composite material) was manufactured by Mitsubishi Chemical FP America Inc. of Chesapeake, VA. W.H. Stovall & Company of Ashland, VA, fabricated the 4mm-thick, polyethelene-cored material into panels and then installed them using its proprietary WHS 175 Dry Gasket attachment system.
VMDO Architects of Charlottesville designed the building. Contractors on the project team included the Barton Malow Company, also of Charlottesville.
