Arlington, VA – Construction sector employment increased by 8,000 in December as the industry’s headcount and wages in 2024 both rose faster than in the broader economy, according to an analysis of new government data by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials noted that most contractors are optimistic about demand for projects and expect to continue adding employees in 2025 according to a new survey the association released this week.

The November AIA/Deltek ABI score of 49.6 was down slightly from October’s score of 50.3, indicating that the share of architecture firms that reported declining billings was essentially the same as the share that reported increasing billings. Any score below 50.0 indicates decreasing business conditions, but there are encouraging signs of the pipeline.
