The look was important but the budget was limited. So how would Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Ltd. Of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada achieve the aesthetic goals surrounding the construction of the new Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, British Columbia? The answer was found by using AD 300 metal wall panels from VICWEST.

Approximately 27,000 sq. ft. of the AD 300 metal wall panels in White White, Silver Metallic and Copper Metallic were installed on the building by Metro Roofing & Sheet Metal Ltd. Of Langley, British Columbia. The panels were fabricated at VICWEST’s Delta production facility.

“The initial goal of this project was to construct a building that had a unique architectural design while remaining cost effective,” said a project statement issued by VICWEST. “All of this was achieved by using VICWEST’s AD 300 profile, which allowed the architect to design a building of multiple colors and varying profile shapes, all while remaining on budget.”

From a detailing standpoint, the most challenging element was a curved wall section. On that area of the building the Silver Metallic VICWEST panels were attached to curved hat channels.

The project was completed in September 2009. The general contractor was Wales McLelland Construction of Burnaby, British Columbia.
