Sherlock, Smith and Adams architects specified a curved version of Architectural Building Components' 200 Series standing seam roofing for its design of the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Huntsville, AL. The 16"-wide, double-locked roof panels were formed from 24-gauge steel with a Weathered Galvalume paint finish. R.B. Atkins handled the installation. Robins and Morton Group was the general contractor.
The availability of radiused panels is one of the qualities that makes 200 Series ABC's most versatile roof panel. It features a 2”-tall rib that is mechanically seamed in the field with an electric seamer in either a single lock (90 degree) or double Lock (180 degree) fold. It performs well on open purlins as well as on solid deck on slopes as low as 1/2:12. Panels can be produced in the plant or on site in lengths up to 200' using one of the company's ARCHZILLA portable fabrication trucks. The 200 Series can be curved to a radius as tight as 20’. It has outstanding performance in high wind conditions.
For outstanding design, construction and craftsmanship, the project received an ABC Job of the Month award for September 2007.
