Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center - National Air And Space Museum

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport is the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall. The Chantilly, VA, building opened in December 2003, and provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall.

The two sites together showcase the largest collection of aviation and space artifacts in the world. The stunning exterior walls, which include the fuselage-shaped entry lobby, IMAX theater and airport-inspired control tower, are created from CENTRIA’s Formawall® Dimension Series® insulated panels in Bright Silver Metallic that mimic aerospace building materials.

The architect was H.O.K., Chantilly, VA. General contractor was Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Chantilly, VA. The CENTRIA dealer/installer was A.C. Dellovade, Inc., Canonsburg, PA. CENTRIA products used on this project were: Formawall® Dimension Series® in Bright Silver Metallic and White; and L21A Perforated Liner in Evening Dove and Steeplechase.

CENTRIA, a Nucor company, supplies a variety of architetural metal wall and roof systems. For more information, visit
