The Tupelo Aquatic Center (TAC) building was completed with the help of metal wall panels from CENTRIA. CENTRIA’s panels were engineered, supplied and installed by FCL Systems, who helped ensure that the panels were properly installed and that the results were pleasing to the building owner.
TAC is a program within the Department of Tupelo Parks & Recreation for the City of Tupelo, Miss. TAC offers the community of Tupelo and surrounding area a state-of-the-art aquatics facility. The center’s goal is to promote health through fun and fitness programs. The facility includes a recreational swimming pool, diving boards, climbing wall and obstacle course. TAC also provides swim lessons, safety classes, sport activities and organized fitness programming for all age groups and experience levels. Additionally, the center features a multipurpose room for hosting birthday parties, celebration or meetings.
“The front feature wall of the administration area included a long curved wall with perforated panels. It was a challenge to properly lay out these panels so that the joints fell right on the tube supports,” said Chad Martin from FLC Systems, but our detailer and installer did a great job and the result looked fantastic.”
Formawall Graphix Series insulated metal wall panels with Directional Reveals reimagines architectural IMP systems. Now, architects have the ability to form unique, complex patterns and designs that are also easy to install by combining horizontal, vertical and diagonal reveals in a single panel.
With the new directional reveals, a single insulated panel can be customized to look like up to 24 smaller ones, each with its own reveal - or combination of reveals - and in its own color. In addition, all Formawall Graphix Series panels can be installed either horizontally or vertically and allow architects to choose how and where to position the directional reveals.
A single component wall system, Formawall Graphix Series with Directional Reveals was designed with CENTRIA’s Advanced Thermal and Moisture Protection (ATMP®) technology to provide the most advanced protection from air and water penetration and maximum thermal performance.
“By using the Formawall Dimension Series and Graphix Series panels, we were able to not only provide a high level of insulation, but also get the desirable look of ACM panels,” Martin said.
In addition, CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series panels were selected for their benefits in sustainability, performance and aesthetics, which aligned with the main goals of the design team.
The CENTRIA system forms a continuous, consistent vapor barrier. Interlocking assembly eliminates the risk of thermal shorts and vapor infiltration. The all-in-one fabrication and assembly also delivers single-source contractor accountability on façade construction while minimizing scrap, freight costs and materials - supporting sustainability goals.
Along with Formawall Graphix Series, CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series provided the designers with a wide array of aesthetic options. The product contributed to the facility’s sleek, contemporary look, and also provided the structure with advanced thermal efficiency and moisture protection.
Finally, CENTRIA’s Ecoscreen Perforated Screenwall panels provided the unique façade with an airy aesthetic. Often used to blend industrial and other applications with their surroundings, Ecoscreen can also be used for custom applications to create unique design elements. The panels can be installed vertically or horizontally and are available with coated aluminum and uncoated stainless steel substrates.
The architect for this project was Johnson Baily Henderson McNeil of Tupelo, MS. The CENTRIA products dealer/installer was FLC Systems of Fulton, MS. The general contractor was Murphy & Sons Inc. of Southaven, MS. The project was completed in September 2013.
