The Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church in Cullman, Alabama underwent an historic renovation in 2001 which utilized zinc roofing fabricated by Ornametals.
The $750,000 project called for the historic restoration of standing seam roof panels and the Rauten tile system on the church’s towers, as well as the restoration of 8’-high, 14 karat gold-plated crosses. The crosses were lifted 180’ into place by crane.
A prime consideration in the design plan was to ensure that the restoration was historically correct where the roof and decorative elements were concerned. That was accomplished through the use of 0.7 mm preweathered zinc for the roofing material.
Design work was handled by Jock Leonard Design / Guenther Huber of Cullman, Alabama. The general contractor and installing contractor was CopperWorks Corp. of Decatur, Alabama.
