For over forty-five years Nobility Homes Inc. of Ocala, Florida has been building quality manufactured homes for the Florida market and beyond. With over 50,000 homes built to date, this company stands high in the rankings of their industry.

Since 2012, Roof Hugger Inc. has been supplying Genesis Construction & Management of Ocala with engineered structural sub-purlins for re-roofing projects at Nobility Homes’ manufacturing locations. The most recent projects included metal-over-metal retrofit re-roofing of a 36-year-old building with 32,350 square feet and a 30-year-old building with 32,350 square feet as well.

The primary purpose for re-roofing the existing metal building roofs was to secure them for a new storage facility. The existing roofs were a standard 12” on center R-panel type ribbed roof, which required Roof Hugger’s standard roll-formed Model “C” sub-purlin. During the design process of this project, the new roof sub-framing was engineered to comply with current Florida Building Code wind force requirements which, of course, exceeded the original building roof’s design. As a result, nearly 24,000 lineal feet of Hugger sub-purlins were shipped to the jobsite. Furnished by Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing of Alachua, FL, a new 26-gauge Galvalume™ coated thru-fastened “Gulf PBR” metal roof was installed atop the Roof Hugger factory-notched sub-purlin system.

Bob Hutchison of Genesis has been providing general contracting services to Nobility Homes, Inc. for many years from renovations to new construction and, of course, re-roofing projects. The Roof Hugger systems installer that Genesis has used extensively is master roofing contractor Mason Dixon Contracting, Inc. of Umatilla, FL.

Andrew Dixon, Founder/Owner/President of Mason Dixon Contracting is no stranger to Roof Hugger systems and metal roofing having been a Florida State licensed contractor since 1984 and completing over 200,000 square feet of Roof Hugger sub-purlin retrofit re-roofing projects to date. Dixon commented on the project that it took just 4 weeks to complete using an 8-man crew. In addition, he stated that they chose Roof Hugger for the “ease of application, their familiarity and history with the systems and how easy they install”.

About Roof Hugger

roof hugger logoRoof Hugger notched sub-purlins enable replacement of new metal roof panels over an old metal roof. They can be used over screw-down or standing seam roof systems and can accommodate new standing seam or screw-down panels. Roof Huggers also maintain integrity of original design loadings; achieve "thermal break" air space between old and new roof sheets; allow for optional insulation; and are laboratory and load tested—with certified load charts.
