GBD Architects designed The Coloradan, a mid-rise LEED GOLD Certified residential community interwoven with retail, art and appreciable amenities. It’s sited upon a former railyard and rises 19 stories in the heart of Denver's Riverfront Park and Union Station neighborhoods.

The Coloradan was completed in 2019, the same year Alpine SnowGuards brought a patented line of snow retention products for façades to market after extensive testing by MicroClimate Ice and Snow at Ontario Tech University in the Climatic Chamber and Climatic Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel.

The architects' design included one such product: Alpine LedgeGuard-1.5 , engineered to mitigate the risk of falling ice and snow from façades and recessed windows. Coupled with its low profile, LedgeGuard is virtually undetectable, an optimal quality for modern, thermally-efficient buildings.

Alpine LedgeGuard-1.5 is an excellent low-profile option for façades that can also accommodate casement windows.

About Alpine SnowGuards®

Established in 1993 and employee owned, Alpine SnowGuards designs, engineers and manufactures 50+ snow and solar snow management systems for all roof types, new or retrofit, from its facilities in Morrisville, VT. Alpine’s 11 snow guard designs for “clamp-to-seam” systems utilize round-point set screws to avoid damaging roof panels, allowing for a firm hold all winter long while keeping snow in its place. Alpine’s 8 products for corrugated metal utilize a compression fit seal to prevent water from leaking into the roof decking and causing issues. All of Alpine’s snow guards are rigorously performance tested at its in-house testing facility, by 3rd party testing facilities, and in the field by roofing experts. When installed properly, they will not void manufacturer warranties.
