Tedlar® PFV Film Case Study Shows 40 Years Of Protection
Wilmington, DE - Dawn gray Tedlar® was installed onto
the steel siding of a DuPont™ plant in Japan 40 years ago. Since then, the laminated PVF film has demonstrated the ability to protect the industrial structure, while maintaining the aesthetics of the panels.
Knowing that Tedlar® ensures up to 50 years of performance, it was selected by the site owners to reduce long-term maintenance and replacement costs. The results at the 40-year mark lived up to those expectations.
The accompanying photos show fresh Tedlar® film held up against the aged steel façade. Virtually no color change is detectable between the new and 40-year-old Tedlar® film, and the building still looks clean and new.
In addition to no visible chalking or fading, the steel warehouse has also experienced no corrosion, looking the same as it did when built four decades prior.
Fabric Protection Verified In Video
As further evidence of the advantages of Tedlar®, a new video illustrates how it protects architectural fabric over time via a short side-by-side comparison of two sports domes that were installed in the same year, in the same area. The video shows
how the dome without Tedlar® has discolored and become dirty over time, while the dome with Tedlar® protection looks bright and clean. To view the video, click here.
