Valspar's WeatherXL™ Coil Coating System Surpassing Expectations
Minneapolis, MN – Global coatings leader Valspar has been soliciting feedback from beta users of its new WeatherXL™ coating formulation and says the coating so far has surpassed all expectations. WeatherXL™ is formulated to provide first-class resistance to transit abrasion and installation marring. In addition, it offers increased weather and formula flexibility to improve the application process.
“We have yet to find any cracks in the coating when we bend and form flat sheets into ribbed panels or put it through the paces during transport,” says a trusted Valspar customer. “We pushed WeatherXL in every category and were impressed to find that WeatherXL flows better and has less edge blistering throughout the whole coating process compared to WeatherX – it’s a much harder and smoother product.”
WeatherXL is formulated with an enhanced silicone polyester resin system to deliver maximum hardness and even more weather resistance to chalking and fading, making it ideal for commercial and residential metal roofing, agricultural and industrial buildings and metal wall panels.

“We are excited to hear the support for WeatherXL among our trusted customers,” says Jeff Alexander, VP of Sales for Valspar Coil and Extrusion Division. “After our initial testing of WeatherXL, we knew it would be a great upgrade to WeatherX, but to hear the positive feedback coming back from the trials reinforces our excitement for this product.”
WeatherXL is available in a wide palette of colors, including Solar Reflective (SR) formulations to help meet Energy Star and LEED qualifications. Valspar will be featuring WeatherXL in booth 418 at the 2014 Frame Building Expo, March 5-7 in Nashville, TN.
