New Function Estimates Materials Needed Down To The Last Fastener

Jupiter, FL – Most tile installers have time-tested methods to prepare client proposals for roof restoration or new construction. Loosely based on the area of the roof and factoring for adjustments, they typically have enough of everything to complete the job when it is all delivered. But is that the best way to do things? AppliCad doesn't think so. That's why they've added a Tile estimating feature to their popular Roof Wizard 3D roof modeling program.

With the addition, Roof Wizard now includes advanced tools that calculate the exact material quantities needed, and the cost to install them, factoring in accessories, half tiles, double tiles, rake tiles and eave starters, caps and boots. All these special tile pieces are quantified by Roof Wizard entirely automatically, based on the geometry of the the 3D roof model created by the estimator from basic dimensions in Roof Wizard. The initial 3D model can be rendered form an aerial image, an Architect's plan in PDF format, or from actual field measurements.

The program enables the user to create a roof report and client proposal–customized to include company branding–in either Microsoft Word or Excel, complete with company branding.

AppliCad Roof Wizard assures the required accuracy by calculating the tile quantity using tile courses drawn on the full size 3D roof model. The control of the tile course is determined by the operator being fixed course (for interlocking tiles) or variable course up to a maximum based on the supplier's specification. Total accuracy is guaranteed and the whole process is completed in a matter of minutes. The program can accommodate concrete tile, clay tile, shingles, shakes, slate and metal tile.

Combining the precision of costing material course by course with the pitch measure tools released late last year for Roof Wizard, a roofer can complete estimates for restoration work for all manner of jobs with the most basic of information and as little as an aerial image. Client proposals submitted "subject to site inspection" can save hours otherwise spent in traffic or clambering around on dangerous, steep and slippery roofs.
