CFSEI Hosting Webinar On Composite Floor Systems Using Cold-Formed Steel On April 24, 2014

Washington, DC - The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) will host a webinar on “Composite Floor Systems Using Cold-Formed Steel” on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. EDT. The webinar is designed for architects, engineers, building officials and contractors. Participants are eligible for 1.5 continuing education hours.

The webinar will cover:

• The advantages of composite construction using cold-formed steel.

• A description of different composite floor systems used in the industry such as steel deck reinforced concrete slabs (composite slabs) and composite cold-formed steel joist floor construction.

• Composite construction with headed studs.

• Governing design standards for composite slab construction.

The webinar will be conducted by Reinhold M. Schuster, Ph.D., P.Eng., a recognized expert on cold-formed steel and concrete engineering. Active in both domestic and international code development, Schuster is chairman of the North American Specification Committee for the design of cold-formed steel structures, and is a longstanding member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Composite Slab Committee. His expertise lies in all aspects of cold-formed steel structures and in the area of composite slabs, including experimental testing. Schuster has been involved with education and research in cold-formed steel design for more than 40 years. More information on the webinar and registration details are available at www.cfsei.org.
