CFS Designer™ Software Available For Cold-Formed Steel Design

Pleasanton, CA - Simpson Strong-Tie, manufacturer of engineered structural connectors, introduces a new software program for cold-formed steel (CFS) designers that automates product selection and complicated design provisions of AISI, and offers more robust design tools for users.

CFS Designer™ software is the new version of LGBEAMER, a software program that for years has been one of the most widely used CFS member design tools in the industry. This software gives designers the ability to design CFS beam-column members according to AISI specifications and to analyze complex beam loading and span conditions.

Now, with the CFS Designer program, engineers will have the key benefits of LGBEAMER, as well as access to connection design and a more powerful software platform. The new version maintains the design tools that automate common CFS systems such as wall openings, shearwalls, floor joists and rafters, but with an upgraded user interface. The software allows the design of multiple engineering models within the same job file, and supports connection design for specific Simpson Strong-Tie® curtain wall and bridging connectors like the SUBH u-channel bridging connector and the SCB by-pass slide clip.

“We rebuilt the software program to make it more compatible with modern operating systems. This not only enables designers to work more efficiently, but it also gives us the ability to upgrade and enhance the program far into the future,” said Randy Daudet, Cold-Formed Steel Industry Manager at Simpson Strong-Tie.

Simpson Strong-Tie will continue to support LGBEAMER through March 2015. After this date, users will need to upgrade to CFS Designer software.
