VMZINC® Named Sponsor In Upcoming Duke Tour
Durham, NC - VMZINC®-US, the international brand name of rolled zinc products manufactured and sold by the Building Products Unit of the Umicore group, has announced it will sponsor the Modernism in Duke Forest tour on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. until noon. Organized by North Carolina Modernist Houses, a statewide nonprofit organization committed to documenting, preserving and promoting residential Modernist architecture, the tour will feature seven Duke Forest Modernist houses built from mid-20th century to 2013.
Duke University originally developed the Duke Forest neighborhood, located just south of Duke University’s campus, for faculty and staff in the 1960s, and many of the homes are still owned by families associated with the university. While Duke Forest includes houses with a mix of architectural styles, the neighborhood has more mid-century modern houses than anywhere else in Durham.
As a sponsor, VMZINC will have the opportunity to meet with attendees, distribute samples and literature of its zinc product and network with those involved with North Carolina Modernist Houses. To visit with a VMZINC representative, attendees can visit the Jeff and Charity Strange House, built in 2013 and located at 1709 Tisdale St.
“We are excited to attend and sponsor the Modernism in Duke Forest house tour,” said Daniel Nicely, managing director at VMZINC-US and Umicore Building Products, USA Inc. “Triangle Modernist Houses is a wonderful organization with a true passion for architecture and design, and we are incredibly proud and thankful for their efforts in preserving the state’s legacy of great architecture.”
