Kingspan Receives Local Manufacturing Association's 2014 Green Award

DeLand, FL - Kingspan was the recipient of the 2014 Green Product Award at the 34^th annual Volusia Manufacturers Association (VMA) awards. The event was held on Dec. 11, 2014 at the Daytona International Speedway’s Daytona 500 Club.

The VMA is an association comprised of manufacturing companies, businesses and individuals in and around Florida’s Volusia and Flagler Counties. In choosing recipients for the VMA Green Award, the association looks for companies that strive to show sustainability practices through construction, healthier work environments, overall energy savings, and reduction of carbon release.

By 2020, Kingspan expects to achieve complete Net-Zero energy consumption at its North American headquarters. Its efforts toward attaining such an ambitious goal made its pick to receive the 2014 Green Award an easy one.

Local manufacturing officials are not the only ones impressed by Kingspan efforts at producing sustainable products in a sustainable manufacturing environment.  So are Daytona International Speedway officials. They’re using Kingspan products to bring an architect’s creativity to life in the re-imaginating of Daytona International Speedway. Dubbed Daytona Rising, the race track’s $400 million makeover involves almost a mile-long stretch of grandstand along the speedway’s front straightaway. Approximately 80% of the metal panels required for the project will be coming from Kingspan Panels’ North American Headquarters in DeLand.

When the Daytona Rising project is complete, there will be wider spectator seating and five redesigned entrances. There will be twice as many restrooms, three times the number of concession stands and 60 lavish suites with modified hospitality areas for corporate events and guests. The overall goal of the Daytona Rising is to provide a comfortable experience, no matter what event fans are present to witness, while also reaching heightened sustainability practices.

The Daytona Rising project is expected to conclude just in time for the 2016 Rolex 24 At Daytona and NASCAR’s season-opening DAYTONA 500.
