MetalTech-USA Developing Revit Files For BIM Modeling

MetalTech-USA-prismaPeachtree City, GA – MetalTech-USA, a distributor and fabricator of architectural metals, is partnering with Autodesk Seek to develop Revit models. These BIM files, developed in Autodesk Revit, contain both visual and numerical descriptions of their physical counterparts for use as digital elements in building simulations.

Autodesk Seek is in the final stages of creating digital models for MetalTech-USA. Users will soon be able to download MetalTech’s adaptive roofing and façade components and correspondingly select the desired MetalTech-USA EcoChoice™ material. Metal finishing capabilities such as standard Prisma™ patterns and customizable PixArt™ functionality will also be showcased for design inspiration.

The utilization of BIM allows AEC (Architects, Engineers, and Construction) professionals to develop drawings that contain property information about every component within the building. This can significantly reduce costs by permitting the user to make and assess design choices in the initial phases of the design process. In the same way that CAD drawings simplified and expedited the design process, BIM is the next evolution. Seek offers intuitive product search capabilities directly within Revit for simple integration of MetalTech-USA’s products into the user’s project.

The Seek library contains over 66,000 manufacturer-specific products. By using MetalTech-USA’s objects, users can be assured their designs are based on manufacturer information and that those objects are optimized for use in Revit. Each Revit file posted to Seek undergoes a rigorous, 36-point QA process resulting in Seek Quality Icons that signify the level of quality contained in the file. An additional benefit of using MetalTech-USA’s BIM content in Seek is the virtual elimination of the need for samples as everything desirable including detailed product information and real-world appearance is contained in the digital package.

“Working with MetalTech-USA and their unique line of products allowed us to create distinctive Revit models true to both their product’s form and function. These models not only function well with a project, but they also push the boundaries of design,” noted a spokesperson for Seek on their new partnership. MetalTech-USA President Nils Simonsen agrees. Simonsen explains, “Revit is the design tool, Seek is the fuel. We are to supply the future architects with the fuel for creative design. BIM is a process that will continue to grow in the future. It’s a discipline that all current and future architects need to be fluent in, and we are happy to supply our systems in BIM for both today’s and tomorrow’s architects.”

Users will be able to access all BIM files, product information and supporting documentation through the Seek Library at autodesk.seek.com as well as from the SmartBuilding Index on reedconstructiondata.com or directly from the website www.metaltech-usa.com.
