Power-Actuated Fasteners For Cold-Formed Steel To Be Topic Of CFSEI Webinar

Washington, DC - The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) will host a webinar on “Power-Actuated Fastener (PAF) Developments in Cold-Formed Steel” on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. EDT. It is designed for architects, engineers, building officials and contractors. Participants are eligible for 1.5 PDHs.

Recent additions to AISI S100, North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members, include provisions for the design of connections with mechanical fasteners, including PAFs. The webinar will provide background on PAF technology, including types of fasteners, how technical design data is developed through laboratory testing, and common cold-formed steel applications. An update on PAF research testing programs will be provided, including new AISI S100 design provisions and seismic qualification test procedures.

William Gould, P.E., Vice President of External Relations and Client Services at ICC Evaluation Services, will conduct the webinar. Gould is a member of the AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) Committee on Specifications Subcommittees on Connections and Joints, Assemblies and Systems and Test-Based Design. He is also a member of the AISI Committee on Framing Standards Subcommittee on Lateral Design. He specializes in fastening systems and diaphragm testing and evaluation. More information on the webinar and registration details is available at www.cfsei.org.
