Fairfax, MN - Schweiss Doors has always considered its automatic latch to be the best bifold door latch on the market. But that didn't stop the company from one-upping itself by introducing the all-new Automatic Strap Latch. This new, totally functional and simple strap latch means Schweiss doors now use straps for both lifting and auto-latching, making the company's products the only all-strap, only-strap doors on the market.
Schweiss Doors introduced its liftstrap doors in 1998. The performance and durability of the trademark yellow straps have proven to be as good as promised. The company believes just as strongly in the new autolatch straps.
"Some manufacturers still continue to try and sell cable lift bifold doors — cable doors that not only require frequent maintenance due to fraying, breaking and overwrapping, but which also open much slower, are hard to adjust, are not as safe as straps, and are noisier than liftstrap doors," notes Mike Schweiss, president and founder of Schweiss Doors. "In today’s world, you wouldn’t buy a car without air conditioning, so why would you buy a bifold door without liftstraps. Cable doors are now outdated."
With the advent of the autolatch straps, Schweiss doors have 90% fewer moving parts than conventional bifolds. The straps can be ordered on new doors or fitted to existing doors with no loss of headroom. The latches are designed to hold the door firmly against the building in all positions, securing the door when fully or partially open, and when closed. It will also secure the door from wind gusts when the door is open, closed, or in any phase of operation.
The autolatch straps are the same as the liftstraps which can lift 29,000 lbs. each. Motors can still be mounted as top drive or bottom drive.
