Roof Loads Will Be Focus Of RICOWI Spring Seminar

New Franklin, OH - The Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues Inc. (RICOWI), will host their 2016 spring meetings and seminar on Thursday, March 10 - Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL. The meetings and seminar will be held in conjunction with the RCI Inc. International Convention at the same location.

The Thursday, March 10, schedule will include Committee meetings, the convening of the RICOWI Board of Directors and the Annual General Meeting; and, the Friday, March 11, agenda features the special Spring Seminar: “Roof Loads: A Weighty Topic”.

The Spring Seminar promises to be an exciting learning opportunity and a chance to discuss the research presented by top researchers in the field. The agenda includes the following presentations:

Air Barriers and their Influence on Roof Loading - Dr. Bas Baskaran / National Research Council of Canada

Response of Photovoltaic Array to High Winds - Timothy Johnston / Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety

Hail Resistance of Low Slope Single Ply Roof Systems - Dr. Thomas J. Taylor / GAF

ICC Code Development:  On the Road to 2018 - Michael Fischer / Kellen Company

Community Education and Engagement on Tornado Impacts (Is my Garden Shed More Tornado Resilient than my House?) - Dr. David O. Prevatt / Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment / University of Florida

Attendees will be eligible to receive 6.0 RCI CEHs for attending the seminar.
