Metal Construction Association Elects 2016 Officers And Directors

Chicago, IL – The Metal Construction Association (MCA), an organization that promotes the use of metal within the construction industry, elected its 2016 officers and board of directors at its annual meeting on Feb. 2 at the historic Lowes Don Cesar Hotel in St. Pete Beach, FL. The MCA’s membership includes manufacturers and suppliers of metal roofs, walls, components and accessories used in buildings throughout the world.

Dale Nelson, president of Roof Hugger Inc., Odessa, FL, was elected chair of the association. Ed Karper, account manager for Akzo Nobel Coatings, Inc., Columbus, OH, was elected vice-chair, and Jim Bush, vice president of sales and marketing for ATAS International, Inc., Allentown, PA, will serve as treasurer. Norbert Schneider, general manager Asia Pacific & Americas of Umicore Building Products USA Inc., Raleigh, NC, was elected secretary. Also serving on the executive committee is Bill Croucher, director of engineering for Fabral, Lancaster, PA, as technical committee chair; Brian Partyka, president of Drexel Metals Inc., Louisville, KY, as market development chair; Dick Bus, president of ATAS International, Inc., Allentown, PA, as president of the Metal Roofing Alliance; and Karl Hielscher, Irving, TX, as past chair. 

In addition to the officers, those serving on the 2016 MCA Board of Directors are Randy Allen, Triangle Fasteners Corp., Pittsburgh, PA; Bill Hartford, Valspar Corp., Kankakee, IL; John Paul Lawrence, Modern Trade Communications, Lincolnwood, IL; Keith Lipps, S-5!, Colorado Springs, CO; Laurel McLallen, Flexospan, Inc., Sandy Lake, PA; Scott Moffatt, PPG Industries, Inc., Springdale, PA; Jonathan Rider, D.I. Roof Seamers, Corinth, MS; Tom Seitz, 3A Composites USA Inc., Davidson, NC; David Stermer, Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp., Louisville, KY; Jim Tuschall, Tuschall Engineering Company Inc., Burr Ridge, IL; Jeff Vellines, Precoat Metals, St. Louis, MO; and Bob Zabcik, MBCI, Houston. 

Randy Allen, Scott Moffatt, Jonathan Rider and Tom Seitz are all new additions to the board this year.

“MCA welcomes the insight and input from our new board members,” said Dale Nelson, MCA chair. “We look forward to the contributions from this involved and energetic group of metal construction industry professionals.”

MCA’s 2016 Annual Meeting held Feb. 1-3, was attended by more than 130 current members, interested parties, and guests. In addition to the election of officers and the ongoing committee and council work, the meeting also enjoyed James Connelly, director of the Living Product Challenge, who delivered the keynote address during the opening general session. 

On the final evening of the meeting, the MCA hosted a reception and awards dinner. Ken Buchinger, general manager of Technical Services for MBCI, was awarded the Larry A. Swaney Award for his selfless and determined work on behalf of the entire metal construction industry. Randy Allen, national account sales manager for Triangle Fastener Corp., and Mark James, marketing director for Roof Hugger, Inc., were each presented with the Patrick R. Bush Volunteer Service Award for their extraordinary contributions to the association. 

The Metal Construction Association brings together a diverse industry for the purpose of expanding the use of metal in construction. Companies involved in MCA gain tremendous benefit not only from networking with their peers within the industry but from association activities that focus on research, codes and standards, installation guides, technical programs and market development. MCA’s market development efforts include expanding the use of metal materials in construction through its METALCON international tradeshow and the education of the building and design professionals about the numerous benefits of incorporating metal products into their projects.

MCA’s next meeting is the 2016 Summer Meeting, set for June 13-15, 2016 in Chicago.
