Webinar To Focus On Life-Cycle Assessment Of Metal Building Systems
Cleveland, OH - The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) is sponsoring a free "Metal Building Systems and Life Cycle Assessment" webinar on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. EDT. Attendees will earn 1.5 continuing education credits.
In this presentation, Jamie Meil and Matthew Bowick of the Athena Sustainable Materials Institute will provide an overview of the Impact Estimator software and how it can be used to evaluate a metal building system in order to meet the whole-building life-cycle assessment provisions in USGBC LEED version 4, ICC International Green Construction Code and ASHRAE 189.1 green building standard.
The Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings is an LCA-based software package that helps designers easily incorporate environmental information while in the early stages of a project. This whole-building tool is used by design teams to explore the environmental footprint of different material choices and core-and-shell system options. The Impact Estimator provides a cradle-to-grave life cycle inventory for a whole building. The inventory results comprise the flows from and to nature: energy and raw material flows, plus emissions to air, water and land.
