TAMKO Introduces Underlayment, Adds Metal Shingle Options

Joplin, MO - TAMKO Building Products Inc. introduces Synthetic Guard Plus Underlayment, which can be used for application underneath metal roofing, as well as with other roof types. The company also announces new options for its metal roof shingle products.

Metal Shingle Options

TAMKO's MetalWorks StoneCrest® Slate profile is now available in three additional color options and the Astonwood® shingle profile is available in heavier 28-gauge steel.

StoneCrest Slate now comes in eight color options, which are exclusive to TAMKO. The three new additions, Forest Green, Timber Brown and Canyon Copper Bronze, were already being offered in the Astonwood profile.

TAMKO’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Stephen McNally, commented, “These colors were a natural addition to the StoneCrest Slate profile and they provide our customers with a better range of choices when selecting the best fit for their residential or commercial project.”

TAMKO formerly offered the Astonwood profile in a lighter 30-gauge steel while the StoneCrest Slate and StoneCrest Tile profiles were already offered in the heavier 28-gauge steel.

“This is a win-win. We have had lots of contractor requests for Astonwood to be in the same heavier gauge as the StoneCrest products,” said Chris Hammack, Corporate Account Manager for TAMKO.

McNally said, “The conversion of the Astonwood line to the heavier 28 gauge provides uniformity for the MetalWorks brand.” He added, “One of the greatest benefits is the advantage for contractors - they will no longer need to switch tools between the MetalWorks profiles during installation.”

Synthetic Guard Plus Underlayment

Synthetic Guard Plus is unique to TAMKO as an underlayment made of plastic fibers, spun bonded to make non-woven mat, and printed with lay lines and cap nail locations for additional ease of installation. It also has cap nail locations for high wind and Florida applications.

Printing of contractors’ one-, two- or three-color company logo and phone number directly on the fabric of Synthetic Guard Plus Underlayment is available for an additional charge through TAMKO’s custom logo print program.

Alex Hines, Director of Builder/Contractor Relations for TAMKO, said, “The ability to customize Synthetic Guard Plus Underlayment with their own logo and phone number gives contractors a chance to make every roof project an advertising opportunity for their business.”
