Kirby Building Systems Announces Merger With Gulf States Manufacturers
Portland, TN - Kirby Building Systems LLC recently announced its plans to merge with Gulf States Manufacturers LLC. Both companies are manufacturers of custom metal buildings and subsidiaries of Nucor Corporation.
The merger is described as a mutual agreement that was designed to better serve customers in a way that improves commercial excellence, creates operational efficiencies, and optimizes new technical resources.
“Our goal is to deliver superior customer experience, while giving our teammates market advantages,” said Dan Cook and Rick Humphrey, Kirby’s Sales Managers. “We are very excited and expect to see positive growth from this. We’ll share top-of-the-line construction and sales technology, such as BIM and eQuote, and increase our market knowledge.”
The merger took effect January 2017, when Kirby became Kirby Building Systems – Tennessee (KBS-TN) and Gulf States became Kirby Building Systems – Mississippi (KBS-MS). Both facilities will remain part of Nucor’s Buildings Group, and no personnel reductions are anticipated as a direct result of the merger.
