Alabama Project Named MBCEA's Building Of The Year

Bethlehem, PA - At its 49th Annual Conference, held May 2-4 in San Antonio, TX, the Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association (MBCEA) announced the category winners and overall top project in its annual Building of the Year Awards competition. Named 2018 Building of the Year was the Hoover Sportsplex in Hoover, AL. It was submitted by MBCEA member Dunn Building Company of Hoover, AL, and utilized a pre-engineered metal building system from Mesco Building Solutions.
For the project, Dunn furnished and erected a 92,120 sq. ft. building, 12,400 sq. ft. of suspended track and 3,850 sq. ft. of catwalks. The metal building system was approximately 220’ x 420’, with a 40’ eave height and a 3:12 roof pitch. It was clad with 3”-thick foam-insulated metal wall panels and 2-1/2”-thick " foam-insulated metal roof panels. Some significant features of this project were the reverse tapered columns, 210'- 0" clear span frames, suspended track and catwalks, horizontal wall panels and clearstory framing.
In addition to the top project, the following entries were also recognized.
