Mountain Top, PA – CornellCookson was among hundreds of companies exhibiting at the recent AIA Conference on Architecture 2018, showcasing a full roster of new and improved closure products designed for commercial, industrial, institutional and retail applications. The convention, hosted at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, NY, June 21-23, drew more than 30,000 influential practitioners from the global architecture and design community.

From booth #656, CornellCookson displayed three integral products that provide unique combinations of durability, life safety and improved aesthetics. These offerings challenge the reputation that rolling service doors, grilles and fire doors are unattractive and hard to integrate into overall design. On the contrary, the company’s innovative solutions make it easier for the A&D community to incorporate necessary closure elements into projects without compromising aesthetics.

The following new and improved products were showcased at the conference:

• Extreme^® 300 Series MicroCoil^™ Grille – The company’s newest product, MicroCoil allows architects, designers and facility managers to maximize clear openings by significantly reducing coil size. Instead of a 24” headroom requirement, MicroCoil reduces this number to just 13”, making it an important product for meeting ADA Standards for renovated parking facilities and other structures. It also offers the same performance, durability and longevity attributes as other Extreme 300 Series products.

• SmokeShield^™ Elevator – This design-adaptable hoistway smoke curtain is UL 1784 listed (among others) and is compact, lightweight and full of design innovations. It offers a broad range of surface or under-fascia mounting possibilities and includes custom component finishing to match, enhance or provide contrast with surrounding features. This new product includes a standard 24-hour battery backup and highly intuitive user graphics.

• SteelWeave™ Metal Mesh Grille – Beauty meets performance with SteelWeave. Featuring a variety of woven stainless-steel mesh materials that project elegance, this product transforms a standard security measure into a complimentary aesthetic. SteelWeave is ideal for store fronts, malls, bars, restaurants, cafeterias and all other applications that require an aesthetically pleasing grille. It can also be used as a room or space divider.
