Celebrating 20th Year Of Flex-Ability Concepts Scholarship With The University Of Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK - The latest scholarship offered by Flex-Ability Concepts went to Morgan McCurdy, a graduate student in the College of Architecture at The University of Oklahoma in Norman. This marks the 20th anniversary of the Flex-Ability Concepts scholarship program with the university.

“We started the scholarship as a way to support our local community while educating architecture students about our products and the creation of curved ceilings, soffits and walls,” said Frank Wheeler, an owner of Flex-Ability Concepts. “We hope the students look back on us as a partner in their education and career.”

University representatives selected McCurdy among other graduate architecture student applicants, and she was awarded $2,000. This was her first introduction to the company.

McCurdy said, “I did not know about Flex-Ability Concepts before this scholarship. However, the members of the team that I have already met are so welcoming and kind. I am excited to learn more about the company throughout the year.”

McCurdy, a relative of Pocahontas, is a Norman local, but she primarily grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo. She earned bachelor degrees in mathematics and Spanish language and literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder. After leaving CU, she worked as a financial editor for an investment bank in Valparaiso, Chile, for two years and later as a retail assistant in Queenstown, New Zealand. It is during this time, living and working abroad, that she developed her interest in architecture. Outside of school, McCurdy can be found outdoors, spending time with friends and family. She added, “Growing up in the mountains, I love participating in any activity that allows me to be outside.”

McCurdy is in her first year of architectural school, and she is diligently finding her style as she learns about design, forms and construction. After graduation, she would like to work for a firm primarily focused on residential and low-income housing.

“I intend to give back to my community and positively affect my surrounding environment. I want to be an architect who creates spaces using passive design and to help those who might not have the necessary resources to create a sustainable living environment. I believe this will be especially important as the Earth’s population continues to grow. I want my architectural solutions not only to exist in my community, but I want them to have a positive impact on society.”
