Colorado Springs, CO - On Thursday, January 21 at 1 p.m. EST, S-5! will host an interactive roundable discussion titled Metal Roofing: Wire Management and Best Practices for Solar PV Installations. The discussion will be moderated by Mark Gies, Director of Solar Business at S-5!. Panelists will be Doug Claxton – Principal & Founder of The Solar Revolution & TSR Energy, Jesse Wiederin – Founder/Owner of The Solar Guys, and Shawn Haddock – Director of IT & Product Support, Senior Field Applications Specialist.

As solar mounting technologies evolve to improve installation efficiencies and reduce material and labor costs, often developers and installers on the job site find it daunting to keep abreast of changing technologies and adapt their operating procedures accordingly. 

One trend rather unique to metal roofing is utilizing the ribs or seams of the roof as rails, wherein modules are attached directly to the roof, eliminating the need for a traditional railed system, thus saving installation time and material costs. This trend requires small shifts in thinking but will produce huge savings in labor, material and logistics. The shifts pertain to the mechanics of installation and other aspects of the project, such as wire management.
