Registration For New MBMA Student Design Competition Is Now Open

Cleveland, OH - Registration for the Metal Building Manufacturers Association’s (MBMA’s) inaugural Student Design Competition is now open. Individual students or teams interested in this exciting opportunity can register at www.mbmaeducation.org until Oct. 1, 2021, with submissions due by Dec. 1, 2021.

“Full-time graduate and undergraduate students can register at no cost, but are required to have a faculty sponsor,” said W. Lee Shoemaker, Ph.D., PE, MBMA director of research and engineering. “With this competition, our main objectives are to encourage students to learn about metal buildings and take advantage of their many benefits in the design process. The possibilities are virtually limitless with metal, and we are excited to see what the entrants come up with.”

Design details, judging criteria and additional submission details are available at www.mbmaeducation.org. The cumulative $15,000 in awards will be presented to the top three design submissions, and divided between students and faculty sponsors. Teams may also enter, and prizes will be divided and distributed equally to each member of a registered team.

Contest winners will be announced on Feb. 15, 2022. Questions can be addressed to Lee Shoemaker at mbma@mbma.com.
