Red Bud, IL – Red Bud Industries has announced the successful installation of light-gauge slitting lines for a pair of North American manufacturers of metal construction products in mid-April. A line purchased by Ideal Roofing Company Limited, a metal building and roofing supplier located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, became operational on April 16. A similar line purchased by Lynchburg, VA-based NB Handy Company, a leading manufacturer of architectural sheet metal products for premium roofing systems, went online April 19.

Ideal Roofing’s light-gauge slitting line is equipped with Red Bud Industries’ CNC Semi-Automatic Slitting Head, which significantly reduces set up time compared to a traditional Packed Arbor Slitting Head. The entire line is also floor mounted, which eliminated the need for costly foundation work.

The Slitting Line consists of an Entry Coil Lift, Traversing Uncoiler, Support Table with Pinch Rolls, Entry and Exit Cropping Shears, CNC Semi-Automatic Slitting Head, Ball Scrap Winders, Thread System, Recoiler, and Exit Coil Lift. The line is rated for 0.061” (1.55 mm) x 60” (1524 mm) material with the ability to handle up to 20,000 lb (9000 kg) coils.

NB Handy’s new system provides NB Handy with a low passline, small footprint Slitting Line that eliminated the need for costly foundation work.

The Slitting Line consists of an Entry Coil Car, Traversing Uncoiler, Support Table with Pinch Rolls, Slide and Lock Slitting Head, Ball Scrap Winders, Thread System, Recoiler, and Exit Coil Lift. The line is rated for 0.060” (1.5 mm) x 60” (1524 mm) material, with the ability to handle up to 25,000 lb (11,340 kg) master coils.
