BILCO Takes Steps To Improve Sustainability
New Haven, CT - The BILCO Company, in following the lead of its corporate parent AmesburyTruth™, has taken bold steps to prioritize environmental sustainability by improving processes at facilities.
Reducing waste by making packaging recyclable, developing returnable packaging and regrinding scrap to use in products are among the initiatives BILCO and AmesburyTruth™ have taken to support sustainability. The improved processes reduce
waste within the supply chain, save money and contribute to a more sustainable future.
BILCO implemented 100 percent recyclable packaging for its Bil-Guard® 2.0 roof hatch railing system at its facilities. The packaging is now made solely of cardboard, which is completely recyclable.
By redesigning large boxes and reconfiguring the way the product fits in the box, the company eliminated foam from its packaging materials. The reconfiguration allowed BILCO to fit most of the rails in just one box for the customer.
“As the world focuses its efforts on improving sustainability, BILCO and AmesburyTruth are proud to support the initiative and look forward toward to developing even more eco-friendly practices,” BILCO General Manager Mike Toohey said.
BILCO is a wholly owned subsidiary of AmersburyTruth™, a division of Tyman PLC. BILCO has served the building industry since 1926 and is the industry leader in the design and manufacturing of specialty access products.
