ATAS Announces 2021 Project Of The Year Award Winners
Allentown, PA - Award winners were announced by ATAS for their
2021 Project of the Year competition. Each award recognizes projects in which ATAS products have been incorporated into the design and construction of the building.
Six project categories were included in the competition: commercial roofs, commercial walls, residential roofs, residential walls, sustainable, and accents. First, second, and third place winners in each category were chosen by an independent panel of
judges, comprised of ATAS advisory board members.
The Farone & Son, Inc. Funeral Home (shown above) in Liverpool, NY received the first-place honors for commercial roofs. Dutch Seam panels in Classic Bronze .032 aluminum were used on this project. The panels had an embossed surface
with stiffening ribs and were 15” wide with a seam height of 1-1/2”. The building was designed by Robert C. Abbott, Jr. – Architect, and the roof panels were installed by Eastern Contractors. The panels were purchased through ABC
Supply Company.

For the commercial walls category, the Dunkin’ shop (shown above) in Cottonwood, AZ took first place. CastleTop panels in Black, Chocolate Brown, Sierra Tan, and Almond manufactured from .032 aluminum with a stucco embossed finish
were installed by Verde Building Corp. The unique design of this coffee shop with the diamond-shaped metal shingles was created by a.d. ArizaDo. This is the second award-winning Dunkin’ location designed by the architect in Arizona, and the
colors were chosen due to their resemblance of different coffee colors. ABC Supply Company was the distributor for the CastleTop panels.

Taking the first-place award in the residential roofs category was a private residence (shown above) in Temecula, CA. Dutch Seam panels in Dove Grey 24-gauge steel were installed by Howard & Sons, Inc., and the panels were purchased
through JB Wholesale/SRS Riverside. The panels had a smooth finish and were 15” in width with a seam height of 1-1/2”. The beautiful standing seam panels will protect this luxury home for many years, and the light grey color with the cool
paint pigments will help to reflect the sun’s rays in California, with a solar reflectance index (SRI) of 55.

For the residential walls category, a private residence (shown above) in Westerville, OH took first place. Designed by Jason Stults Architect, this house used Opaline panels in Matte Black .040 aluminum that are 6” in width, and flush
in profile. This unique home combined the softness of Matte Black vertically installed Opaline panels with natural wood panels installed horizontally for a visually pleasing residence, resulting in a low-maintenance and durable building envelope.
The panels were installed by Prime Construction and were purchased through ABC Supply Company.

The Richmond Fournier, Inc. manufacturing facility (shown above) in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada won first place in the sustainable category. An area of 5,600 square feet of InSpire HP, a solar air heating panel, in Select Blue .028 aluminum,
was installed by Construction Gosselin-Tremblay, the general contractor, who also designed the building’s extension. Refrigeration Thetford, Inc. coupled the InSpire system to the heating and ventilation system. The panels were purchased through
Trigo Energies. The striking blue panels not only create an attractive aesthetic to the building, but they also preheat fresh air, which is then brought into the building, helping to lower winter heating costs. Monitoring over the last two winters
revealed that the InSpire system performed better than expected, delivering six percent more thermal energy than originally calculated.

For the accents category, 3 Maple (shown above) in Essex Junction, VT took first place. G4 Design Studios, the architectural firm on this project, chose custom perforated .125 aluminum plate panels in Regal Blue. The larger holes in the
panels, which were cut by ATAS, created ventilation and visual interest to the lower garage level of this building. The panels were purchased through ABC Supply Company and installed by the general contractor, BlackRock Construction.
Jim Bush, VP of Sales and Marketing for ATAS, stated, “We are pleased to recognize all the architects, contractors, and distributors who were involved in the 2021 award-winning projects. It’s great to see the creative designs, aesthetics and
quality craftsmanship incorporated into these buildings. The continued acceptance of metal as a cladding component in roof, wall, accent, and interior applications complements all building designs. In addition, the continued growth in the sustainability
sector for solar heating applications is encouraging. We look forward to this year’s project nominations for the 2022 competition." To view the booklet of all the 2021 winners and nominated projects, go to https://view.publitas.com/atas-international-inc/2021-project-of-the-year/page/1 .
