McElroy Metal Introduces Trap-Tee Symmetrical Roof System

Bossier City, LA – McElroy Metal has announced the development of a new symmetrical metal roofing system called Trap-Tee. The system is site-formed, mechanically seamed and features a 2-3/4-inches-tall seam.

According to the company, Trap-Tee is designed to resolve the three major shortcomings of trapezoidal standing seam roof systems: leaking end laps, low wind-uplift capability and being difficult to repair. Site forming eliminates end laps vulnerable to leaking over time while the oversized seam and special clips dramatically increase wind uplift capacity. And the symmetrical design allows for easy repair or alteration even after the roof is installed.

Standard clips for the Trap-Tee system are 16-gauge and 8 inches long. An optional Super Clip is 16 gauge and 16 inches long.

The symmetrical design of the Trap-Tee panel allows panels to be individually removed should the need arise. The panels feature oversized seams and special clips (shown on the right) for increased wind uplift capacity.

Offered with a Sherwin-Williams PVDF Fluropon coating, the Trap-Tee has a life expectancy approaching 60 years, allowing for the ability to add curbs, vents, single-panel replacement and even building additions. Rectangular metal buildings and tilt-up warehousing are the best candidates for the Trap-Tee panel, in both remove-and-replace as well as recover projects.
